What does the dialog box "Untrusted publisher" mean during installation?

mvBlueFOX, mvBlueFOX3, mvBlueCOUGAR, mvTITAN, mvGAMMA, mvVirtualDevice, mvHYPERION, mvIMPACT Acquire

Since 01.01.2016, Microsoft requires/recommends a SHA256 certificate to sign drivers. Older Windows versions like Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 do not fully support SHA256 certificates.

This leads to following behavior: Even if you select the "Always trust" check box in the "Untrusted publisher" dialog box and then click OK, the "Untrusted publisher" dialog box will appear during the next installation process again.

It could be possible that a driver will not be installed properly during "silent" installations.

Since mvIMPACT Acquire 2.15.2 we are using SHA256 certificates. In order that you can use our driver with older Windows version without the "Untrusted publisher" dialog box, Microsoft published hotfixes. Install the following Windows patches (in this order):

  1. KB3033929
  2. KB2921916

Microsoft does not provide these hotfixes using the standard update process! You have to install them manually.
